SPEAKERS: Is Your Calendar Full?

Calendar
Struggling to Fill Up Your Speaking Calendar?

Or would you like to get paid to speak? How about a few more gigs every month?

As President of the Las Vegas Convention Speakers Bureau, I hear from speakers every day who are distraught and struggling because they just aren’t as busy as they would like to be… they aren’t getting paid to speak. Having one or two paid gigs a month may cover your bills, but it’s hardly fulfilling… and it’s NOT where you should be! After all, you spent years training to become a top-tier speaker so you could get paid to speak! So, why aren’t you busier?

Here are a few tips that might help you to fill up your calendar:

Make Sure You’re Staying Relevant!

Are you repeating the same old speech you’ve been delivering for the past ten years? Believe it or not, I’ve suggested several speakers over the years, only to have my clients say, “Oh… we’ve heard him already.” Those particular speakers had no desire to change or update their presentations. Believing “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” simply doesn’t apply to speakers who want to get paid. FIX IT! If it was golden years ago, update it! Even though it may have been absolutely perfect just as it was, you will eventually run out of audiences who haven’t already heard your speech!

BOOKS Deliver Value

How about a new book? Having a new book that focuses on recent events or trends can be a game changer! You can include your book as part of your fee or discount. Often, clients will buy them in bulk! A book is a great negotiating tool! And if your book is more than 10 years old, update it! Publishing options are abundant. I print books for just a few thousand dollars, and that’s money any speaker who wants to get paid to speak could recoup with just one or two speaking gigs!

Having a book to sell BOR (Back of the Room) can also mean a few extra THOUSAND DOLLARS to your fee! I’ve experienced this first-hand. I had to fight with a speaker who was reluctant to bring his books and recordings. I assured him I’d help him work his table to sell his products.

His fee was $10K. He did an amazing keynote; he really knocked it out of the park! He delivered a high-energy, motivational speech and delivered many memorable takeaways. His speech resonated with the audience deeply. The audience, which was close to 200 guests loved him. They wanted to take a piece of him home with them! They bought everything… in fact, they cleaned him out. His $10K fee, which was $7500 NET, was restored to $10K! He sold $2500 in products… or 25% of his fee. He swore to me that he’d learned his lesson and vowed to always sell his products BOR after that.

DIGITAL PRODUCTS RULE!

Digital products are even better – they’re easier to carry, pack, and sell! And they really help speakers get paid to speak! You can print download codes for your content. People will sign up so you can email them a code the next day to can access content – anything from your new eBook to an online course. This can add up FAST! Imagine earning between $5 to $5K and more PER ATTENDEE, with the added benefit that you’ll get their email so they can become a customer for LIFE!

Movies are an exciting digital product, too. I’ve produced three award-winning films that feature top thought leaders in business and self-help. An individual can write a book, but it takes a TEAM to produce a film! You just can’t do it alone. I’ve had crews of 10 and as many as 15 experts in just one film! Appearing in a powerful personal development film is one of the most extraordinary experiences for speakers and authors, and it’s even more memorable for audiences. They will get to see you, costarring with people they recognize… like Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, and John Gray.

If you’re interested in appearing in a film, I’m currently in production (2025) on my 4th film, “The Keys to the Pursuit of Happiness,” starring John Gray, Marci Shimoff, and Sandra Yancey (eWomen Network.)

The Key Movies
The Award-Winning KEY MOVIES

All of my “KEY MOVIES” have won awards and earned global distribution, enabling the speakers in the films to reach worldwide audiences they might otherwise never know. The movies feature 7 Keys that, when embraced, can help people to live a better life. These are Appreciation, Harmony, Passion, Courage, Faith, Vibration, and Empathy. The opportunity to appear in one of my films is RARE! As my first director told me, “It’s a film, not a miniseries!” Time is limited, so the number of experts who will get a spot in the film is limited, too.
