In business, we can get in trouble when we take things personally. This applies to how we perceive ourselves as we market ourselves. To our clients, to our bosses, to our networks, to our prospects.
Here’s my challenge: let’s start thinking about “YOU, the product” rather than”YOU, the person.”
Products have features, benefits, and outcomes. When you think about yourself as a product, it is helpful to think about what skills and attributes you bring to the table. We are not talking about you, the person–we are talking about YOU, the delivery vessel or product.
- What are the positive outcomes that happen when folks work with you?
- What makes you different?
- What unique abilities do you bring to the table?
So – what ARE those “YOU, the product” assets? Make a list. Keep it close. Share the outcomes. It’ll feel much easier…
