Panera is coming to the Metaverse

Restaurant chain Panera is taking its first steps into the Metaverse.  In tweets earlier today, trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis revealed that the Missouri-based company has filed two new trademark applications that indicate its intent to offer (1) virtual goods authenticated by NFTs and (2) virtual restaurant and cafe services.

"Panera is preparing their trademarks for the new era of the Metaverse," Mr. Kondoudis says.

The first application seeks to register PANERA for downloadable virtual goods and NFTs. The second application seeks to register PANERAVERSE for online virtual restaurants and cafes.

Mr. Kondoudis adds that the trademark filings "clearly indicate that Panera intends to participate in the Metaverse. They're filing new applications for the company's main trademarks, saying that they're going to launch and start selling virtual goods and services, in online and virtual worlds." 

"These new trademarks also provide Panera extra protection in the event others attempt to use the brand online in an unlicensed way," Mr. Kondoudis opined.
