Indie Author Day, a national celebration of independent authors and everyone who loves books, will be celebrated in Santa Fe on Saturday, October 12, noon – 5:00 pm, at the Southside Library, 6599 Jaguar Drive. Gail Rubin, CT, The Doyenne of Death®, will be there to share information about her books, publishing, and the upcoming Before I Die New Mexico Festival.

The speakers in Santa Fe include Robin Cutler, creator and Director of IngramSpark, a national partner of the event. She will speak about the benefits and distribution channels available to people who independently publish their books through IngramSpark.

On Indie Author Day, libraries and organizations around the world welcome local indie authors, writers, and their communities in for a day of education, networking, mingling, writing, open mics, panels, and so much more! This is the fourth year of the event, taking place across the United States and Canada. Gail Rubin, Certified Thanatologist, hosts the Albuquerque Death Cafe. She is a pioneering death educator. Rubin is a public speaker, a published author of three books, host of a TV interview series and podcast, a blogger, a funeral industry trade journalist, a Certified Funeral Celebrant, and an innovator in the funeral business. She created a conversation-starting game called The Newly-Dead Game®, introduced the Death Café movement in the United States, and held the first Before I Die Festival west of the Mississippi in 2017. Albuquerque Business First named her one of their 2019 Women of Influence.

Rubin is a Certified Thanatologist (that's a death educator) and a popular speaker who uses humor and films to get the end-of-life and funeral planning conversation started. She "knocked 'em dead" with her TEDx talk, A Good Goodbye. She provides continuing education credit classes for attorneys, doctors, nurses, social workers, hospice workers, financial planners, funeral directors and other professionals. She's a Certified Funeral Celebrant and funeral planning consultant who has been interviewed in national and local print, broadcast and online media.

Known as The Doyenne of Death®, she is the event coordinator of the Before I Die NM Festival. She also hosts A Good Goodbye Internet radio show and produces Mortality Minute radio and online video spots. Her YouTube Channel features more than 450 videos!
