Long term care insurance Association director Jesse Slome

An editorial feature authored by Jesse Slome Director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance was published this week by the prominent online news service.

"The feature authored in support of maintaining a viable long-term care insurance marketplace appeared in The Observer, a leading online news service," shared Jesse Slome, director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance an advocacy group.  Slome was sharing industry highlights with leading long-term care insurance professionals who are members of the organization.

"My goal was to continue our efforts to focus on the important role long-term care insurance plays in support of American families and tax payers," Slome pointed out.  "The fact that long-term care insurance already benefits hundreds of thousands of individuals and their families is overlooked and rarely reported by the news media."

The opinion piece makes note of the importance of the Genworth acquisition by China Oceanwide, and voices the industry expert's concerns should the transaction not take place.

"Genworth is one of the few remaining U.S. insurance carriers committed to traditional health-based long-term care insurance and one of the few carriers working with regulators and both state and federal governments on solutions to overcome the widespread challenges plaguing the industry," Slome pointed out in the editorial. "However, Genworth will only be able to steward the change needed if it receives the stabilizing cash infusion provided by the transaction."

"Years ago we mounted a campaign with the theme that 'Long-Term Care Insurance is Good for America' and that has never been more true than it is today," Slome told the insurance professionals.   He urged the group to do all it can to continue educating consumers to plan for the very real risk of needing long-term care.

Based in Los Angeles, CA, the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance is an advocacy organization supported by insurance professionals who market LTC insurance solutions.   Slome is also director of the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance which organized the national Medigap industry conference.
