Culture is linking to Ireland one letter, one word, and, one song at a time

Next weekend, Saturday, June 23rd, 1-4pm, The Celtic Arts Center (CAC) is joining New Education Options (NEO) in offering a public weekend afternoon gathering.  Literally delivering "words with friends" in Burbank, guests will be playing scrabble, playing on cell phones, setting records for naming the water cycle in different languages honoring the novel's on island setting and that Hawaii and Ireland are both islands of culture that celebrate families and at the same time are  global gathering places for trade, appreciating diversity, and celebration.

Next Saturday afternoon's program features an e-book Pre-Launch for "Stillness in the Night" soon to be packaged in .mobi and e-pub formats. Distribution and date to be announced. There will be food, drink, music, games, and social activities. NEO Board member Clifford O'Connell is releasing his first novel kicking off a international theme to the New Education Options' capacity building campaign through his stunning transformational title expecting that publishing will add a new role to his long time humanitarian endeavors adding literary pursuits.

From shopping to entertainment to conversation, there will be time to vete the book, explain the new programs of both nonprofits and celebrate the heritage and ancestry surrounding the Celtic Diaspora and its ongoing contributions and past tribulations.

The novel's voice values people as deep, complex, and capable of higher values.  O'Connell puts the reader in the driver's seat to contemplate a fight for meaning and purpose, while watching forces of greed, power, and family fight it out against a backdrop of crumbling resources and systems collapse. Not your ordinary end -times read, the book passes on a tradition of family (Ohana or clan), and island culture. In a week with tension from hillside fires and historic rulings that pit property against equity, the story promotes domestic tranquility through democracy, culture, and art.

O'Connell's traveller's tale is a fun read, a serious anti-end times satire, and rendered both as a contemporary fiction and in the genre of famous Irish literary satires.  It uses fiction as the author's mirror put before us reflecting human appetites, character and foibles.

Come and join Burbank regulars, parents, shop owners, artists, designers, friends, teachers, children and more and put your wits to the test.

Enjoy playing to learn and learning to play "nicely" with others.

Help us fill up NEO's coffers to give children tutoring, field trips, music, art and science at The Legends Gym and Plummer EL and back Bo Lebo to meet with her GLOBE partners to bring back new STEM integration tools and resources to Liggett Street Elementary School.

Join us and bring friends that will continue Earth Sciences, Music, Math, and Language Arts activities that will improve all classmates' health, attendance and motivation by making school "cool" and academic success achievable!
