NYC-based collective MICHELLE sharestwo new live videos of “MYFRIENDS”and“FIREESCAPE,”standout tracks from the band’s acclaimed sophomore album AFTERDINNER WE TALK DREAMS,released via Atlantic Records/Canvasback Music in March of 2022.Directed by filmmaker GregCorn,these acoustic live takeswere filmed on the rooftop and fire escape of band member JameeLockard’s apartment.

Otherupcoming festival appearances include the Lorde andMitski-headlined AllThings Go Music Festival on October1st outsideof DC,and Canvasback labelmate BristonMaroney’sself-curated ParadiseFest on November4th atBrooklyn Bowl in Maroney’s home base of Nashville,TN.
Thisweek, MICHELLE wraps up part one of The Lavender Tour, which beganwith a festival appearance at ThisAin’t No Picnic in LosAngeles,then saw the band traverse North America from SanDiego to Chicago to Toronto.On Wednesday, September 14th,the band will close out this late summer headline run at Lark Hallin Albany,NY.
Releasedin early 2022, AFTERDINNER WE TALK DREAMS markedthe band’s full-length debut for Canvasback Music (Transgressive inthe UK). Featuring singles “POSE,”“SYNCOPATE,”and“MESSU MADE,”the album bears all the hallmarks of MICHELLE’s music – layeredvocal harmonies, analog synthesizers, vibrant percussion, andsmoldering hooks.
Therecord was recently named to Billboard’s“10Best Pride Albums of 2022,”joining the critical acclaim the project received upon release fromoutlets including Pigeons& Planes, NME, Interview, Paste andmore. The group was named to EntertainmentWeekly’s“9Artists to Watch in 2022,”with the outlet calling their music "thekind of breezy, timeline-cleansing tunes our overstimulated brainsare begging for right now."
InJune, the band followed up their LP release with a special two-trackproject dubbed THESIDE DISHES,featuring two new songs, “FOOL4 U”and“SEASHANTY”(listen here).
Thispast spring, MICHELLE played a sold-outshow atNew York’s BoweryBallroom,which followed touring earlier in the year opening for Mitski onselect dates. They also played a sold-out show at London’s iconicalternative venue Electrowerkz, and a set at UK festival TheGreat Escape whichreceived rave reviews from fans and press alike (“anecstatic, joyful celebration… sharp and ambitious collectivemusicality” – NME).
Born-and-bredNew Yorkers, MICHELLE formed in 2018 and is comprised of SofiaD’Angelo, Julian Kaufman, Charlie Kilgore, Layla Ku, Emma Lee andJamee Lockard. The predominantly POC and queer collective mix andmatch the writing and production groups amongst the six of them.Their debut album HEATWAVE wasself-released, featuring stand-out single “THE BOTTOM.”
