If you’re living for the weekend, you’ll be excited about this one! It’s officially outdoor movie season; Project GLOW is at the RFK Festival Grounds and there are many WorldPride events too. Have a great weekend!

Project GLOW is at the RFK Festival Grounds
The fourth annual Project GLOW electronic music festival is May 31 and June 1, and with it comes headliner Tiesto, Chris Lake and Loud Luxury, among others. In partnership with Live Nation, Project GLOW will transform the RFK Festival Grounds into a party of international and local talent. More information on tickets can be found here.

Another Festival at Strathmore Celebrates Music from Gender-Marginalized Composers
WoCo Fest 2025: Uplift is a two-day festival at the Mansion at Strathmore and outdoors throughout Strathmore’s campus. May 30 and 31 will see a lineup of musical exhibitions, outdoor performances, live composer workshops and more at this WorldPride Partner Event. More information on tickets can be found here.

‘No/Bodies: Tattoos and the Work of Felix Gonzalez-Torres’ at the National Portrait Gallery

Join this panel to explore the relationship audiences have with artist Felix Gonzales-Torres’s work through the art of tattooing. Curators Josh T. Franco and Charlotte Ickes will be chatting with art historian Julia Bryan-Wilson and fellow curator Meg Onli, both of whom have chosen to express their appreciation for Gonzales-Torres and his work by getting tattoos. The Kennedy Center’s Summer Film Series at The REACH Begins
Every Friday at sundown (beginning this Friday), enjoy the views of the Potomac as you take in an outdoor movie at the Kennedy Center’s REACH campus. First up is “The Bourne Identity,” the 2002 thriller starring Matt Damon. Movies run through August 29. Movies start approximately at 8:30 p.m. More information can be found here.

Defy Gravity and Head to The Wharf for More Movies

The Wharf is also hosting free movies on the Transit Pier Thursday evenings beginning at 7 p.m. The movie series, presented by Pacifico Beer, will sell pizza from Union Pie and Pacifico from Cantina Bambina. First up for the film series is “Wicked,” which will be the sing-along version. Next week is “To Wong Foo. Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar.” More information on the series can be found here.

Check Out the WorldPride Capital Cup Sports Festival
The very first Capital Cup Sports Festival in partnership with Team DC, will begin this Friday and run through June 4. Don’t miss teams from around the globe in two dozen different sporting events, including kickball, bocce ball, darts, golf and more. The festival is part of WorldPride celebrations going on around the city. More information on the sports festival can be found here.

‘Art & Autocracy in the Americas’ at Amy Kaslow Gallery

A new exhibit opens this evening at Amy Kaslow Gallery exploring the explosion of autocracies in recent years that have left countries run by regimes rather than governments. Expect to sculptures from Mimi Herbert, paintings from Cuban artists Jabriel Lafrance and Sandra Dooley, Mexican illustrator Juana Estrada Hernandez and more. Strathmore Youth Chorus Has a Showcase Saturday
A concert with the Strathmore Youth Chorus will showcase classics from The Beatles, Earth, Wind & Fire and Elton John Saturday evening at The Music Center. The concert will also showcase a special medley from Concert Chorus’s collaboration with George Mason University while also highlighting the Touring Chorus’s educational journey to New York City. Park Hyatt Washington Debuts an Art Exhibit Mixing Fashion and Art
French artist Stephane Koerwyn’s aluminum creations of “prêt ART porter” will be in both public and private suites of the Park Hyatt Washington beginning this evening. There will be 30 sculpture dresses on display and available for purchase and the Blue Duck Tavern even created a new cocktail, the “European Spring,” to serve during the exhibit. Koerwyn’s creations will be on display through October 30 of this year. More information can be found here.
