"Given the local economy's reliance on tourism, the last thing that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan can afford is pandemonium and street protests. Yet, the last few weeks have seen chaos and unrest in Gilgit-Baltistan as hundreds of thousands of people poured into the streets chanting slogans and staging economic shut down to challenge the writ of the government. An estimated crowd of fifty thousand people gathered in Gilgit's Garhi Bagh Square alone...."
