Lifesaving Resources, an internationally-recognized leader in Ice and Water Rescue training, will be conducting their 15th annual INTERNATIONAL ICE RESCUE TRAIN-THE-TRAINER ACADEMY, February 16 - 19, in Portland, Maine.
The purpose of this intensive 4-day training program is to train Ice Rescue Instructors for Fire, Rescue, EMS, and Law Enforcement agencies. This intensive training Academy includes over 30 contact hours of instruction including classroom and on/through-the-ice practical training.
Upon successful completion, graduates will be authorized as Lifesaving Resources' Ice Rescue Instructors and will be able to conduct Ice Rescue Awareness, Operations and Technician level courses on behalf of their sponsoring departments/agencies. These courses meet/exceed NFPA 1670 Standard for Technical Rescue.
The Academy will begin at 3 PM on Thursday and continues until 3 PM on Sunday. Tuition includes instructional materials, meals and lodging. Classroom sessions will be conducted on Thursday afternoon and evening, Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, while practical sessions will be conducted all day Friday and Friday evening, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning.
The Academy is conducted under the direction of Gerry Dworkin, a professional Aquatics Safety and Water Rescue Consultant for Lifesaving Resources, and a Firefighter/EMT with the Kennebunkport Fire Department in Maine. Assisting Gerry will be Bob Shields, a Rhode Island Firefighter and Paramedic, and Greg LeBlanc, a New Hampshire Firefighter and EMT.
