Larry Rosenfeld, co-founder of Sage Communications, McLean, Va, has retired.

David Gorodetski, Sage Co-founder and CEO, described Rosenfeld as “a pillar in Washington, D.C.’s business and marketing communities.”  Gorodetski, in a post, wrote that “Larry left his mark by launching and promoting hundreds of local, national and global brands in the telecommunications, technology, aerospace, consumer and government sectors. He’s an enduring supporter of the Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health, and he served for years on George Mason University’s Insight Committee.

“Larry is not only my co-founder and business partner at Sage and my prior boss at Stackig Advertising and Public Relations; to me he is also my family away from home, my friend, my mentor and an occasional co-conspirator. His retirement comes after an impressive career spanning five decades, and we will still look to him for his guidance and insights.

“Over the past 25 years I have learned so much from Larry’s street-smart instincts, his skills as a businessperson and his brilliant capacity to understand our clients’ worlds and their complex technologies and missions. Our journey together as partners was rewarding, challenging, honest, and always based on mutual respect and understanding that we are in this together. As I reflect on our shared journey, I know that I could not have asked for a better partner, advisor, and friend in founding Sage. The bond that we have developed over the years will last forever.”

With Rosenfeld’s retirement, current partner and Senior Vice President of Public Relations Julie Murphy will take over as company president. Gorodetski has moved from chief operating officer role to CEO and Rosenfeld will remain as a consultant for a year.
