I received an email yesterday from a guy who was subscribing to my free newsletter, Monday Morning Memo. It's a brief, weekly newsletter about whatever is on my mind, how people can improve, and/or whatever's irritating me at the moment. It has about 12,000 subscribers.The guy tells me that my last newsletter had a “political framework” (I mentioned why Colbert was cancelled by CBS because late night talk shows were disappearing and Colbert was pretty much solely focused on critiquing the president) and he announced that he had to cancel, but thanks for the past stuff that had helped him over the years.This is the height of narrow thinking—one article in disagreement and he can't stand to have his bias questioned—and ridiculous response—I'm cancelling a free newsletter—and passive aggressive behavior—I have to “announce” this to you.And people wonder where I get my material!
