Whether you are hiring, looking for your next job, or seeking a new dentist, a referral is priceless.
This week an evil Curly Wurly bar pulled out one of my fillings. (If you haven’t tried the magical Cadbury’s creation of caramel and chocolate they are truly amazing, but not for loose cavities so it seems!) I immediately asked a close group of friends if anyone loved their dentist, because in 46 years I’ve suffered, tolerated, and been sort of grateful, but never really loved any of mine.
My friend Ashley reassured me hers was amazing, and she was absolutely right. If you are near Pasadena, CA I can’t recommend Dr Paul Shinto enough, even if he did perform emergency treatment on my cavity and told me that I needed a root canal! His office staff Sherry and team are delightful and it was the first time I’ve ever left a dentist’s office actually happy.
Referrals matter.
Referrals are the easiest way to find the brilliant new team members you are looking for, discover your next role, or find the services that could help your company.
But...
You do have to ask.
So what referrals do you need today? I can likely help with introductions. Here are some of my requests:
One of my clients, francesca’s is looking for a Marketing Director. Do you have any referrals for them that I can pass along?
I also know of a brilliant CMO and an incredible CIO who are looking for their next roles - are you a CEO who is hiring for those roles in the near future?
Finally, I also know of a not-yet-announced VP of HR role reporting to the CEO, but this is for a not-your-typical-HR-leader kind of role.
Referrals are one of the major ways I get to grow my business too, executives who have worked with me or heard me speak, or read one of my books refer me to their executive colleagues and friends... so I wouldn't be practicing what I teach, if I didn't also mention...If you know of an executive, conference organizer, or company that could benefit from a conversation with me, please let me know. I love introductions!
Dedicated to growing your business,
Val
