Tim Mahoney

Tim Mahoney, longtime global chief marketing officer of Chevrolet, plans to retire. His departure, which was announced internally Thursday afternoon, becomes effective March 1.

Mahoney, who also leads General Motors' global marketing operations, has been with the automaker since 2013. He was previously CMO at Subaru of America, where he spent most of his career. He later served in an executive vice president and chief product and marketing officer role at Volkswagen of America, Inc. and also held various marketing positions at Porsche Cars North America.

GM confirmed Mahoney’s retirement in a Thursday statement, though the Detroit car giant didn’t name a possible successor.

“We thank Tim for his many contributions to strengthening the position of the Chevrolet brand around the world and for the expertise that he has brought to our marketing operations,." GM North America president and Global Chevrolet head Alan Batey said in a statement. “We wish Tim and his family well in this next chapter of their lives.."
