Moving from doing only comedy shows to doing humor keynotes that had comedy and a message was hard according to comedian and keynote speaker Jan McInnis. She said it was mostly because with comedy, she was used to constant laughs and now she was going to add in some more serious stuff to make a keynote, so there wouldn't be as many laughs.

"That's very difficult for a comedian - to NOT hear laughter when they're on stage," admits McInnis. Her podcast this week features a quick story about how she made the transition from doing only comedy shows to doing keynotes that had humor plus a message. Getting input, practicing, and doing free gigs are some of the ingredients.

McInnis's podcast is produced every Thursday. It includes a clip of her clean comedy from a live show, then a short story, and it ends with a take-away tip. The podcast is titled "Comedian Stories: Tales From the Road in Under 5 Minutes."
