Matt's view of Tiger Wood's on the 18th hole

Golf fans were watching their favorite golf pros play in the BMW Championship at Medinah, just outside of Chicago on Sunday. While fans watched some of their favorite pros like Tiger Woods, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Keegan Bradley, Gary Woodland, Shane Lowry, and winner Justin Thomas show their skills.

It was on the 18th hole where another type of pro discussed the need to plan their future retirements like a golfer plans each shot. Matt McCann, one of the nation's best-known Long-Term Care Insurance specialists shared his expertise while the group watched a great day of golf.

"Too often we fail to plan for one of the biggest risks we face in our lifetime. This risk has more impact than hitting your ball into a bunker. This is the financial costs and burdens that come with long-term care. Preparing our family and finances for the impact of aging is key to enjoying a successful future retirement," McCann said.

McCann explained as more people have become aware of long-term care, they have done more research on how to avoid placing the burden of caregiving on their families or draining savings and income with paid care. Their research often leads to a dead-end.

"People ask their insurance person or their financial advisor and they give them an illustration or a quote and that becomes the end of the conversation. An illustration or quote is not learning about long term care. This is something you need to discuss with a specialist who will ask you detailed questions about your health, family history, retirement plans, and family concerns. Without this input the information you are getting is meaningless," McCann said.

Long-Term Care Insurance is custom designed. Every company has their own underwriting criteria. A specialist, who works with multiple top insurance companies, can help design an affordable plan which will give you access to your choice of quality care either at home or in a facility while protecting assets and income and reducing the tremendous burdens otherwise place don your family.

"You should start your research in your 40s or 50s, prior to your retirement. When you work with a specialist, they will help you understand the various types of plans, traditional, partnership, hybrid, and short-duration plans to find the right one for your specific situation," McCann added.

McCann says most financial advisors and general insurance agents don't have the knowledge and experience with long-term care planning. The American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance suggests working with a specialist who represents multiple top insurance companies and has helped at least 100 individuals get coverage.

With over 20 years of experience, McCann has thousands of clients nationwide as he helps American families address the high costs of long-term care. He uses his unique process where consumers speak with him on the phone while viewing his computer screen on their computer. This makes it very easy to learn your options and shop without pressure. He works with the major insurance companies in the industry.

Part of your research should include finding the current and future costs of long-term care services in your state or the state you plan to retire to in the future. McCann says to ask yourself how these costs would impact your lifestyle and legacy.

Plus, you should find out if your state participates in the federal/state long-term care partnership program. This program gives you additional dollar-for-dollar asset protection. You can find this information, including available tax incentives, here: https://www.ltcnews.com/resources/state-information.

"The fact is Long-Term Care Insurance is easy, affordable, and rate stable income and asset protection. You have the control in helping to design your plan. Once you have an affordable LTC policy in place you will enjoy peace-of-mind knowing your family will not be burdened and you will always have access to your choice of quality care as you get older," McCann added.
