Offsites, retreats, and All Hands meetings are exactly the time your team decides if they are going to start returning headhunter calls or not.
They can either be excruciatingly eye-rolling inducing or the very point that galvanizes your team and makes a difference to real business results.
This week I had the pleasure of working with the Skype and Microsoft Teams leadership team and Marketing organization.
Before you decide you want a retreat, offsite, or all day meeting with your team ask yourself:
1. What business outcomes do you want to achieve by the end of the event? (Teambuilding is not a business outcome!)
2. Is the team I am inviting the one that will be with me in six months time? Delay it if you have significant changes coming to your team.
3. Do you know if your team understand your strategy, believe in your strategy, and what is getting in the way of achieving your business results?
If you have an upcoming event let me know and I'd be happy to give you some advice specific to your business and your team.
Have you recently started a new role? Join me or received the recording for The Perfect Executive Launch on February 21 at noon PT.
