Sometimes the sheer cluelessness of what I'm reading is enough to give me a headache-and yes, occasionally push me toward a glass of Moscato. It doesn't fix anything, but it tastes good. I know, I know… water is the smarter choice.amp;nbsp;lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;Articles from the medical establishment about the standard American diet? Those really test my patience. The disconnect is hard to miss. This month I read lt;emgt;Diet and Cancer: Here's What I Tell Patientslt;/emgt;. Like most of these pieces, it's packed with big words and not nearly enough plain common sense. I always skip to the last paragraph, because that's where the truth usually slips out:lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;". . . I tell my patients that it is unlikely any one diet will change the trajectory of your cancer. Focus on eating healthy… lt;stronggt;Eat what makes you happy…lt;/stronggt; this is not the moment to impose stringent restrictions on yourself."lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;"Eat what makes you happy." Aggggghhhh! For the most part, that's what got you where you are now!lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;It sounds nice. It sounds comforting. It also sounds like a free pass to keep eating the same junk that got people into trouble in the first place. Let's be honest-what "makes people happy" in the standard American diet usually comes in a box, a bag, or a drive-thru window.lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;And "eat healthy"? What does that even mean anymore? That phrase has been stretched, twisted, and watered down so much it barely means anything at all.lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;The truth is, the standard American diet isn't just a little off-it's a long, slow train wreck for your health. By the time most people hit midlife, the bill is already coming due - high blood pressure, arthritis, diabetes - you know the list.lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;Meanwhile, the medical world is dipping its toes into the longevity trend. Take lt;emgt;Can Medicine Make Us Live to 150?lt;/emgt;-the focus, once again, is on drugs:lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;"Geroprotective drugs… metformin, rapamycin, senolytics…"lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;But it's telling, isn't it? When in doubt, the conversation always swings back to medication-often with a laundry list of side effects-while real, consistent nutrition barely gets a mention.lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;If we're actually serious about health and living longer-and better-we might want to stop pretending that "eat what makes you happy" is good advice, and start having a more honest conversation about what actually works. If it's nutritious, eat it. NUTRITION is the key.amp;nbsp;lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;To help you improve/change the food you eat, please consider the following:lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;BREADlt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;a href="https://www.thewisewolf.club/p/big-farma-is-poisoning-our-food-supply"gt;lt;spangt;Big Farma: How the American Bread Industry is Knowingly Poisoning Millionslt;/spangt;lt;/agt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;EGGSlt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;lt;a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOK7InB5tGw"gt;https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOK7InB5tGwlt;/agt;lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;This is a great video, made by "Farmer Ash" - I buy eggs from her farm. She explains what everyone needs to know about the eggs they eat. It's an educational video for kids. Please watch.lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;MILKlt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;lt;pgt;lt;spangt;lt;a href="https://makisw.substack.com/p/news-lab-grown-milk-will-soon-flood?utm_source=substackamp;amp;publication_id=1385328amp;amp;post_id=187929884amp;amp;utm_medium=emailamp;amp;utm_content=shareamp;amp;utm_campaign=email-shareamp;amp;triggerShare=trueamp;amp;isFreemail=falseamp;amp;r=po3vramp;amp;triedRedirect=true"gt;Lab-Grown ‘Milk' Will Soon Flood Global Food Supplylt;/agt;lt;/spangt;lt;/pgt;
