Interscan Is Ready to Challenge The Industry...Again

In world brimming with billions of sensors, most of which are carefully tracked, recorded, and analyzed, why does the field of gas detection lag so far behind in logging data from its sensors?  After all, toxic gas exposure can be insidious.  Certainly, instantaneous alarms will provide lifesaving warnings of catastrophic releases, but these days, employees are more likely to be exposed to relatively lower concentrations, with long term consequences.

That's why time-weighted averages and short term exposure limits have been proffered by occupational health regulatory agencies worldwide.

Interscan Corporation was the first company in the gas detection industry to introduce data logging products, way back in the 1980s, and launched Arc-Max®—a fully capable data acquisition, archiving, and reporting system, purpose-designed for gas detection applications—in the early 1990s.  Rose Stransky, one of Interscan's veteran sales engineers, offers some comments:

"Arc-Max® is popular all right, but not popular enough.  We, and every other manufacturer, still sell plenty of gas detection systems that do not have the benefit of data logging.  I think there are a number of reasons for this, but perhaps the most important is that traditional data acquisition systems are viewed by many potential customers as cumbersome, expensive, and difficult to use."

"Sure, I can wave the Interscan flag and say that Arc-Max is different, and it is, but data logging scares away too many people."

"That's why we are excited about our new product called Arc-Max_Cloud.  Imagine.  Your gas detection sensors will send data to a secure Cloud server and reports will be accessible from any authorized device.  The price will be a fraction of packaged software, and will be based on a subscription model.  Installation will be quick and easy.  We will be looking for beta testers next quarter.  Stay tuned."
