Swauger1@zoominternet.net Renowned Criminal Analyst Dale Yeager says due diligence through the use of forensic profiling could have predicted the $50 million Ponzi scheme allegedly orchestrated by Bernard Madoff. Without profiling and psychological assessment, financial clients often can be manipulated by con artists, said Yeager, a forensic expert retained for numerous high-profile criminal investigations. The federal Securities and Exchange Commission has launched an internal investigation to determine why it missed repeated opportunities to discover the alleged fraud.
?Our clients have avoided this type of scam because we include profiling in our due diligence,? said Yeager, CEO of SERAPH Inc. in suburban Philadelphia. ?Traditional background checks are limited. Assessing the behavior of the person or persons you are handing your money over to is critical to protecting yourself.?
SERAPH was the first security consulting firm to use forensic profiling in business investigations.?In this day and age, it is irresponsible to use old investigative methods to determine risk,? Yeager said. ?But that is what is being done by some of the largest risk-management firms in the country ? to the detriment of their clients.?
