Weather, STREAM, STEM, STEAM and Rivers, Bogs and Wild Atlantic Way....Ireland is making waves in Education and Conservation

Video Clip: Click to Watch

Enso and Montecito- Studying Earth Science from the ground and space.  You can hear a rap song about the LA River to learn how to keep a science journal or use protocol to map a playground to a forest glade using new protocol.  Whether through water words, measurements, lattitude or longitude, photosynthesis, or mosquito larvae, the visitors to Killarney were and are passionate and ready to use the same consumer electronics that help families communicate and scientists in the field.  The conference was set to close the gap on "hose conversations" with hand held real time measurements and working as learners in a team.

Have you ever heard of citizen science?  Nineteen Irish Schools and 42 plus of 121 countries gathered at the Glen Eagle Hotel and Conference Center to share science curricula, student findings in Posters, and exchange the impact of science (STEM) on their lives, present papers, and discover the Park.

If you've ever imagined how the Green Schools, the Museums and Parks, the Universities, and the teachers can work together with natural resources, safety, food stock, achievement, and solutions, think of this GLOBE LEARNING EXPEDITION and consider that your school whether in the North or South might want to participate this year #GLE2018 or www.globe.gov

You can see the fun and the participating countries, costumes, the parade down main street and back up to presentations in the park at the Killarney Cultural Center.  Watch for pictures to be posted on Social Media soon. http://www.killarneynationalpark.ie/)

Your heart can be lifted knowing that from Earth Observer, to Grace, to Rover, to GOERS, to Calipso, to SMAP, and ENSO, primary to college students are paying attention to climate, weather, and community needs.  A heat wave sent many Irish to the beaches or the emergency rooms and spiked a requirement to forestall hosing one's lawns in selected areas.  Whether in California or in Monkstown, there is a mandate to understand weather over time and NASA is working on a middle school curriculum and testing it for use in classrooms soon.  In the meantime, extremes of weather are impacting what is down stream.  Whether the Marble Arches, the Thoor Ballylee, or your lilies in your garden, citizen science may just wake up your classroom, seniors, students, or household.  Write to An Taisce/Environmental Education Unit or watch for next year's EPA.ie citizen science initiatives to find out more about what's a foot for using digital means to measure and assess the Natural World or the quality of your indoor air.  We are now able to evaluate pollens in the air to manmade chemicals and more.  If you want to study the whole water cycle you can learn it in Gaelic and take it to class for some fun!

Note: Thank you to the hosts and sponsors of the event for their generousity and creativity bringing GLOBE to Ireland for the first time.  Thank you for the Irish Dance and Music and the terrific hospitality of the people of Kerry et al. Thank you to CEA for sharing Science through Stories, Anything's Possible, and the World around us theme.

A second thank you to: Expert Click's Mitchell Davis, CES, Robert Escalante and his new scrabble book, The Celtic Arts Center, The Comhaltas LA, Pauric Dolan from Enniskillen, the State of California, and the Widow Stanley for helping NEO participate in the parade with grace and style making this trip possible. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_State_Tartan, order it here https://sportkilt.com/clan_history/6130/California.html)
