Charter Calls Boggs to Head Policy Communications

Avery Boggs has joined the government affairs team at Charter Communications, where she’s been named group vice president, policy communications.

She succeeds Tamara Smith, who’s assumed the newly-created role of Spectrum Networks’ group vice president, partnerships and strategy.

Boggs joins the cable giant from Arlington, VA-based PR agency PLUS Communications, where she was as executive vice president of marketing and strategy development. She was previously a senior vice president marketing at The Koch Network and a senior vice president at Alexandria–based marketing and advertising shop Revolution Agency.

A lawyer, she began her career as associate counsel for the U.S. Department of Commerce before later serving as a communications strategist at Annapolis-based Strategic Partners in Media.

As head of public policy communications, Boggs will responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies to achieve the telecommunications giant’s policy goals at the federal, state and local levels. She’ll be based in Washington, D.C.

The nation’s second-largest cable TV company, Charter acquired Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks in 2016, which were migrated to the company’s Spectrum brand.
