If the world’s fisheries are going to be saved, then the Communist Chinese must be stopped first.

The Chinese Economic Miracle has lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty and provided affordable goods for billions throughout the world, but they have also squeezed 150 years of industrial progress into 30 years and that has fouled their environment, in some places beyond repair, and proved a Faustian bargain with consequences far beyond their own shores.

First their shores, they are long ago fished out and so polluted their ability to sustain any kind of normal marine life is become part of Chinese folklore. The Communist government is cracking down harder on descent and making sure the economic growth continues, no matter the cost, or their ability to hold power will diminish faster than it has recently. Protests around the country are common and even with massive government investment some regions dominated by an industry, such as textiles, have contracted big-time because of foreign competition.

China will build at least 100 new coal plants this year alone and show no signs of being able to come close to cleaning up lakes, rivers, streams, canals or the air in cities like Beijing. Elites have super-scrubbers for their offices and homes, while the rest of the population breath and exist in air that a science fiction movie would have a hard time portraying accurately.

  • Studies have showed that the quality of coastal waters are deteriorating quickly as a result of land-based pollution. The study found that 8.3 billion tons of sewage was released in Guangdong Province’s coastal waters in 2006, 60 percent more than five years earlier. Altogether 12.6 million tons of polluted “material was dumped in waters off the southern province.
  • Some lakes are in equally bad shape. China’s great lakes—the Tai, Chao and Dianchi—have water that is rated Grade V, the most degraded level. It is unfit for drinking or for agricultural or industrial use.
  • Describing China’s fifth-biggest lake a Wall Street Journal reporter wrote: “The slow, hot days of summer are here, and sun-fed algae is starting to clot the milky surface of Chao Lake. Soon a living scum will carpet a patch the size of New York City. It will quickly blacken and rot…The smell is so terrible you can not describe it.”

Such a situation is why Chinese fishing vessels are invading coastal territories around the world, sometimes with violent results, and a reason why upwards of 100-million sharks are slaughtered annually for their fins. Indonesia celebrated its 2016 Independence Day by blowing up several Chinese fishing vessels operating illegally in their coastal waters and thousands of Chinese ships prowl the high seas looking for anything to catch. Having fishing out their own waters, they are will rape the rest of the Earth in pursuit of their Communist Utopia.
