Sometimes, we are our own worst enemies. We let our minds get in the way of pursuing our dreams.

Gary Keller’s quote “The habits of our life are like chains that are too loose to be noticed until they’re too tight to break” resonated with me as I prepared for this week’s virtual  Coaching at The Corner discussion.

For us to break free of those chains, let’s challenge ourselves to “THINK BIG!”

Here are some strategies for you to consider:

  • Be comfortable with discomfort. Changing anything is uncomfortable, and if you are trying to open the door to thinking bigger, it will be uncomfortable. So prepare yourself!
  • Create space. If your physical and/or mental space is cluttered, there may be no room for creative thinking. Many a great idea comes while people are taking their morning showers, right? Decluttering that space, and giving yourself permission to let your mind wander or explore can help you as you allow yourself to think bigger.
  • Continuous learning. The more curious you are, the more you allow expanded thoughts. A thirst for learning can build your curiosity and set the stage for expanded thinking.
  • Supportive relationships. You can’t achieve BIG goals alone; your relationships can not only challenge you but help you achieve your goals.
  • Set BIG goals. This is really important. If you want to achieve “bigger and better”, embrace the power of goal setting to help you do that. These BIG goals cannot be ambiguous; they must be specific. Two words: AIM HIGH. More on goal setting here.
  • Act. As with any strategy to achieve goals, the key to bringing it all together is to take action.
