I’ve been to countries to which I’ll never return. There is no need for it was an awful place. I’ve been to restaurants to which I’ll always return because of the great service and food, and if I have a bad experience I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and return despite it. But if the chef changes and the food deteriorates, I won’t be back.
If there are too many “never” and “always” we lead a constrained and restricted life, always taking the same route, never experimenting with anything new or innovative. But if we’re selective and discriminating, then we can broaden our horizons without wasting time on non-productive or boring pursuits.
One problem today is that too many people will always vote for just one political party and never for the other, instead of making decisions on the quality of the individual candidate and his or her entire platform, not such a single issue.
Among the reasons for significant improvements and advances in human history—in science, health, religion, communications, entertainment, sports, and so forth—is that a sufficient number of people forced change by always looking for a better way and never being diverted from their goals.
