It's true that love conquers all, and that's the point that Gwendolyn Javor shares in her debut children's book Absurdimals: Lola Goes to School, which takes a fresh new look at diversity. It's hard to be a kid who's "different," but Javor celebrates those differences with Lola, a little Belephant (half bunny, half elephant) who tries to fit in with the "normal" animals at her new school. Javor will be presenting her book at two upcoming local book store events.

"Excellent concept, beautifully scripted and illustrated, ABSURDIMALS is far more than an exceptionally entertaining book – it is a healthy worldview that offers very sound advice for adults, too. Highly recommended,

5 Stars".

At first, Lola the Belephant loves herself and her unique traits: No one else could hop after butterflies while watering flowers! But soon the "normal" elephants make fun of her and start to bully her. It's not until her school principal tells her to love herself first, that Lola realizes love is the binding force between all of the animals. As she celebrates who she is, the others start to follow, revealing a surprise about the animals she thought she knew.

"The story delves into issues that play important roles in all children's lives and portrays a sense of hope and understanding that is nothing short of extraordinary"

Amazon Reviewer

As we try to promote acceptance in today's world, this is a refreshing read that helps parents begin to explain diversity to their youngsters.

"I wasn't bullied more than any other child, but I was aware from a young age of the lasting damage that bullying can have on a person's life," says Javor. "I believe strongly that a life not lived authentically is a life wasted, so it's my mission to help any and all embrace whatever it is that makes them them, and live the fulfilled life that we're all entitled to. My primary goal with the Absurdimals is to get this message across to children"

Whether a child is struggling with their own differences of skin color, chronic illness, special learning needs or something else, they will be able to relate to little Lola the Belephant as she struggles to love and accept herself the way she is made. The message of love rings strong and true in this story. Grab your favorite child and settle in for a read.
