This Sunday marks National Ice Cream Day! Georgetown is the perfect location for all ice cream lovers to celebrate in, with several different ice cream parlors.

Thomas Sweet has called Georgetown home since 1979 and has everything from ice cream to fudge and coffee. Like other ice cream establishments in Georgetown, Thomas Sweet is a chain, however their other locations are all in New Jersey. Thomas Sweet is famous for its blend-ins, which if you have not been, is similar to a Dairy Queen Blizzard. It is located at 3214 P St. NW, Georgetown.

Although Van Leeuwen started in New York City, it has quickly become a staple in the neighborhood. Located at 3245 Prospect St NW in Georgetown, they offer a mix of classic and unique ice cream flavors. They specifically have everything from chocolate ice cream to strawberry yuzu cheesecake flavored ice cream. Van Lawueen also offers other street treats like milkshakes and rootbeer floats.

If you are looking to try something new for national ice cream day, the bakery Levain is celebrating their 30th anniversary with ice cream available all summer. In Georgetown they are offering ice cream from local gelato shop, Dolcezza. Although Dolcezza is not located in Georgetown, they have a few locations around DC, including one in Dupont Circle.

Another more niche ice cream option for people who want to expand their palates can be found at Spot of Tea located in Georgetown. This matcha tea shop has several locations around DC, but the Georgetown location is the only one which is serving matcha flavored soft serve and strawberry lychee sherbet. They are located inside the Grace Street Collective, 3210 Grace St NW.

Whether you’re a fan of classic scoops, adventurous flavors, or refreshing soft serve, Georgetown has something special for everyone this National Ice Cream Day. From long-standing favorites like Thomas Sweet to trendy newcomers like Van Leeuwen and unique offerings at Spot of Tea and Levain, the neighborhood is a true haven for ice cream lovers. So grab a spoon, bring your friends, and treat yourself to a sweet celebration in one of D.C.’s most charming neighborhoods.”
