Since its release, the Hyundai Palisade SUV has been turning heads and converting many car buyers into Hyundai owners. This 2023 Limited model is one of the best trims you can buy. There’s a few cosmetic changes for 2023. Some obvious changes are on the front of the vehicle with updated daytime running lights as well as the entire front grille. The Palidade is an all-wheel-drive SUV but it’s not inherently designed as an off-road vehicle. While it can get you on some back-roads that don’t require heavy wheel articulation, it’s main chore is that of a family hauler.

Other external changes include 20-inch alloy wheels for the higher trim levels, extra chrome details along the top of the door sills as well as the chromed roof rack. While not many changes have been done to the rear of the Palisade, there is now an integrated LED brake light in the rear spoiler above the rear window.

Going under the hood, you’ll find a standard 3.8-liter V-6 engine that’s good for 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters on the steering column. Power is delivered to the front wheels, unless you opt for the all-wheel-drive upgrade. Overall, the shifting was rather smooth with only a bit of oddities whilst climbing steep hills. For those looking to haul trailers, there’s a standard transmission cooler with trailer pre-wiring, as well as built-in sway control. Hauling capacity is said to be up to 5,000 pounds. Its fuel economy EPA rating is 19 around town and up to 27 miles per gallon at freeway speeds.

Moving to the inside, we find that Hyundai has replaced the former 12-inch infotainment screen with a better quality, higher resolution one that looks far better. Additionally, there’s a newly designed steering wheel as well as some upholstery options not found in prior model years. You’ll also find a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, massaging driver’s seat and heated third-row seats.

There’s a ton of space for all of the Palisade’s occupants — even the third row isn’t as cramped as we’ve seen in other, comparable, SUVs and getting back there is easy with the pressing of a 2nd-row button that moves those forward for easy third-row access. If you’re looking to do those large shopping trips to Costco, you’ll have 18 cubic-feet of cargo space with all of the seats up and that expands to a more room 86 cubic feet if you collapse both the 2nd and third row. Hyundai has also included a bit of storage room under the floor in the back for dirty items.

Its infotainment system has native Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, Bluetooth audio, AM/FM radio and built-in navigation. If you want to opt-in for extra snooping into your lives, you can sync the Palisade with Hyundai’s Blue Link App, with either Alexa or Google Assistant to lock, unlock the doors and do remote starting.

Driver aids include the now nearly obligatory, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, pedestrian alert, front collision alert with emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring.

On the road, the 2023 Palisade Limited delivers a very nice, quiet ride with plenty of passing power and decent handling. Braking is solid and didn’t exhibit any fade after our hours of extended driving. There is a hint of body roll around sharp corners but that’s rather normal for SUVs in this class and weight. Zero to sixty can be done in about 6.9-seconds.

Hyundai wraps things up with an industry-leading 10-year / 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, bumper to bumper limited warranty for five years or 60,000 miles and complimentary maintenance is covered for three years or 36,000 miles.

Pricing for the Palisade Limited starts at $47,795 but climbs to $49,695 if you opt for all-wheel drive. In a crowded market, Hyundai is standing head and shoulders above most of its competitors and with its latest Palisade, it’s easy to understand why.
