SUMMARY BY CHATGPT

Episode 1025 – VTubing
Host Tom Antion explains VTubing (“virtual YouTubing”), where creators appear as animated avatars that mimic their movements and speech. While popular among younger audiences, it’s also a growing business with agencies and large followings. VTubers often remain anonymous, sometimes with fictional backstories, and recent YouTube age-verification rules requiring IDs have raised privacy concerns.
Tom suggests VTubing could be an alternative career path for young people, potentially more lucrative than traditional college routes. Getting started can be inexpensive—basic tools include free or low-cost software like VTuber Studio, a webcam, and a capable computer—though high-end motion capture setups can cost $10K–$15K.
He emphasizes it’s likely more suited for younger audiences than his typical listeners, but worth exploring as a wholesome, creative outlet with monetization potential. He closes by noting the privacy risks of ID submission on YouTube and teasing the next episode about “why I love spam.”

Episode 1025 - VTubing
[00:00:08] Welcome to Screw the Commute. The entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money, with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multimillionaire, Tom Antion.

[00:00:24] Hey everybody, it's Tom here with episode 1025 of Screw the Commute podcast. Today we're going to talk about Vtubing. You say Vtubing. What's vtubing? Well you're going to find out here in a moment. And I think you might, especially if you have young people in your life, cousins or or nephews, nieces, your own kids, it might be interesting to them too. All right. Check out episode 124. That was generators. And, uh, this is the safety thing for your for your homes. So you can keep your business going. If the electricity goes out, things like that. And pick up a copy of our automation e-book at the free. And check out my mentor program at GreatInternetMarketingTraining.com, where if you're in it, you get a scholarship to my Internet and Digital Marketing school, which is IMTCVA.org. It's licensed to operate by SCHEV.

[00:01:28] Okay, what the heck is Vtubing? Well, it's short for virtual YouTubing. However, you can do this all over the place. It's just that's the name that was coined for it several years ago. And you can do videos and you can stream this. Usually you do videos first to build an audience and then go streaming where all of it, you're trying to monetize yourself by doing this. Now why am I talking about this? All right. This might not be for my average listener, but like I said, you may have young people in your life that you could save a fortune of sending them, you know, blowing 200 grand, sending them to a four year college where they're going to get crap and still never get a job when they get out.

[00:02:19] So you might want to listen to this and get them interested in this. I don't know if you'd want to do this. I can't imagine that I'd want to do it. There could be some scenarios, but. But you're still still thinking, well, what is it? Tom, what is it? Well, what it is is you are making videos, but it doesn't look like you. It's some type of avatar that moves with you and your mouth. The mouth moves and it's like a model they call it. And a lot of. And how did I happen to trip on this? Because, you know, it's a it's more of a youth thing, but it's a big business. Don't don't forget that it is a big business. There's agencies that book VTubers and this is a big deal. But the way I got on to it is YouTube's doing another crackdown on underage people. So they're watching all the stuff, your user habits, and they're predicting that you are underage and then they're cancelling your account unless you can prove that you are not. And so you have to submit an ID, like an ID with your driver's license and address and everything on it.

[00:03:39] So a lot of the VTubers are totally anonymous. You never see them. You just see this character that they've created. And a lot of times the characters have a backstory that can either be real or totally fake. So the VTubers are are kind of worried that this information and a lot of them are young is not going to be protected by Google. You know, you're going to have your address everything for doxing. And so that's how I tripped on this. But it is a lucrative thing and it's a big deal. So if you want to get your kids involved and stuff like this, it's, uh, it's, you know, pretty wholesome, most of it that I've seen dancing and just talking and, you know, other types of content. I guess there's some racing this, but I didn't see any of it. But the question is, how do you do it? Well, the first way to get started, I mean, there's tons of free software out there now that's developed. Just to give you the a little taste of what can be done. But I mean, you can go all the way up till they where, I don't know, kind of suits that full body things. And they're dancing and they can cost ten, $15,000. All right. But you don't have to do that. In fact, most people are talking about a thing called VTuber studio, which you can get on your cell phone and just start playing with it.

[00:05:00] I don't know, it's pretty, pretty cheap, I think. Or you probably has a free trial and you would need to really do this. You would need a good computer with a good graphics card, kind of like a gaming computer. And that's pretty much it, you know. So a webcam, you know, has to look at you unless you have one of these, you know, unless you invest a fortune. I wouldn't invest in fortune in this until you found out that the kids were really serious about doing it. You know, the younger people, like I said, you could do it. I even I even just for a second thought. Maybe I should do that on some of my, uh, highly educated idiot content. I'm going to be coming out with one of these days, so I don't know, but we'll see. But the thing is, it is a viable thing. It's a big thing. It's big business. There's umpteen million views on on the a lot of the channels. So it's something that you might want to look into. Probably not for yourself, the typical listener that I have. But any young people, you could encourage them and help them and you know, they'll teach you a lot as you set the whole thing up, I'm sure. All right. So anyway, that's v tubing. But it also, um, mentioned I mentioned the, uh, the fact that, uh, a lot of the accounts are going to get, I think, paused until you can prove how old you are, depending on the content you watch.

[00:06:30] I don't know how they're going to police that for sure. Just because somebody submits a driver's license, it could be they could have snuck their parents out, one out of their wallet and did it, submitted it. And then, you know, now that the people think they're old enough, they're Google. I don't know. It seems to me Google is smarter than that, with all their 9 million PhDs working on this stuff all the time. But but anyway, it's a it's a concern of how they will keep that information safe. Because if you have to do a driver's license or something that's got your home address and your and your picture and everything, your date of birth and everything on it. So. So I don't know. But anyway, that has nothing to do with B2B and something you want to look into for your, you know, probably not for yourself maybe, but definitely for any young people in your arena. And they probably know about this already. They probably watch some of the big channels. So. So there you go. There's vtubing now. Uh, next episode, 1026 I'm going to tell you why I love spam. What do you think about that? All right. We'll catch you on the next episode. See you later.
