SUMMARY BY CHATGPT

Topic: In-Camera Editing – creating videos that are ready for distribution as soon as filming ends.
Key Points:
• In-camera editing is the process of planning and shooting video scenes in sequence, so no post-production editing is needed.
• This method contrasts with "shooting to edit", where scenes are shot out of order and then assembled later in editing software.
• Benefits of in-camera editing:
o Saves time – videos are ready immediately after shooting.
o Saves money – no need for a video editor.
o Efficient – helpful when you're short-staffed or working solo (Tom's editor is on vacation, prompting this episode).
• Works best when filming in a single location.
• Modern smartphones often include features that make in-camera editing easier.
• Requires forethought and planning to get each scene right on the first try.
• Minimal trimming (start/end) might still be needed but is quick and easy.
Promotions:
• Tom promotes:
o His automation book (free at screwthecommute.com/automatefree)
o His mentor program at greatinternetmarketingtraining.com
o His video weekend training at screwthecommute.com/videoweekend
o His school at IMTCVA.org

Episode 1016 – In Camera Editing
[00:00:08] Welcome to Screw the Commute. The entrepreneurial podcast dedicated to getting you out of the car and into the money, with your host, lifelong entrepreneur and multimillionaire, Tom Antion.

[00:00:24] Hey everybody, it's Tom here with episode 1016 of Screw the Commute podcast. I wasn't really planning on doing today's topic, but I'm going to anyway because I got reminded of something. So it's going to be on a topic called in-camera editing. So you shoot a video, and by the time you're done shooting, it's done, ready to distribute. So that's the topic. Hope you didn't miss episode 1015. That was cell phone cameras and all the kind of great stuff you can do with modern day cameras, and pick up a copy of our automation book at screwthecommute.com/automatefree. I was going to say three because it's version 3.0 is now available. So if you had 2.0, grab 3.0, screwthecommute.com/automatefree and check out my mentor program. Greatinternetmarketingtraining.com and my school at IMTCVA.org.

[00:01:22] Okay, so here's the two different things we're talking about here. One is called shooting to edit. And then versus what we're going to talk about today editing in camera. So first I'll tell you what shooting to edit is. Shooting to edit means you shoot things out of order. If you're going to do two different scenes in one place, you'd shoot them right there, and then you would go to another setting and shoot those ones and then give it to an editor or edit them yourself, all in a good order later.

[00:01:56] All right. That's and you can shoot over and over again. You can do as many takes as you want. You know, that kind of thing. So that's shooting to edit. Editing in camera takes a little bit more forethought because you're going to shoot a scene. And then at the end of that scene, you're going to shoot the next scene in order. So it doesn't really lend itself so much if you're going to several different locations, because you got to run back and forth between them. So it doesn't make sense. But if it's a video you're shooting in one location, this can be a way. If you think about it ahead of time, that as soon as you're done shooting, the video is ready to distribute, and a feature on a lot of cell phones now makes this even easier. That's one of the reasons I thought about this. The other reason is that my video guy just put in for vacation. He's going to be gone like ten days. And those of you that follow me know that I hate being stuck where I can't get work done just because somebody is on vacation. So this allowed.

[00:03:07] That's another reason I thought I should shoot some videos and edit in camera like I was taught in Hollywood years and years ago. I got kind of lazy with it because Mark has been doing all my fancier video editing, and I do the quick stuff, you know, one take kind of things. So what's the benefits of this? Well, I already mentioned one. The video is done immediately, so it saves you time to get the distribution because you can put the thing out right away and it saves you money if you're paying an editor. And of course, time is money. Even if you're editing yourself, you have to stop and do the edits and do all that stuff. About. The most I ever do on editing and camera is what they call trim. So I can take off the beginning where I'm getting ready to shoot and take off, the end where I'm finishing up and in between. You know, sometimes I can just, you know, make a one of the shots, a file and do a split and then move it a little bit forward or backward to take off any setup for that shot. And then by the time I'm done, it's done. All right. So this is a worthwhile skill to develop.

[00:04:18] It takes, like I said, a little bit more thought because you got to think out the shots ahead of time. And uh, it's just It's just a quick video that I hadn't planned on doing for you, but it is something you should know about. And if you do a lot of video and you're tired of waiting and waiting and waiting for a video editor, or getting back to the office and uploading and downloading and all kinds of crap you got to do for that, then this might be something you want to look into. So check out just Google editing in camera and there'll be loads of people that talk to talk to you about it, show you examples and things like that. So this is a super short episode, but it's something that can save you lots of time and lots of money and get your distribution fast. You know, that's the thing about me, I like things fast. I don't like to wait for months to get stuff done, so check it out. Editing in camera and my mentor program. Greatinternetmarketingtraining.com and hey, we teach you this stuff at my video weekend, so check that out. screwthecommute.com/videoweekend and I will catch you on the next episode. See you later.
