"Now that Obama has been thrashed in the first presidential debate with GOP nominee Mitt Romney, Obama will try to confuse various public issues in an attempt to deflect attention from his poor record," gun rights expert John M. Snyder predicted here today.

Snyder is the senior rights activist in Washington, according to Shotgun News.  He has been working on behalf of Second Amendment interests for 46 years, including with the National Rifle Association and other right to keep and bear arms groups.

"We know that Obama's record with regard to the individual Second Amendment civil right to keep and bear arms is abysmal," said Snyder.   "As he and his supporters try to confuse the record on this and other issues, we must keep the facts in mind and before the public.

"Before Obama's inauguration as president in 2009, his public record was an absolute outrage.  Although some may wish to give him a pass as president, the truth is he does not deserve it."

Snyder recalled that, "Obama's two nominees to the U.S. Supreme Court, Justices Sotomayor and Kagan, do not support the individual right concept re the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms of the current high court majority.  If Obama got a chance to nominate another justice, that could tip the balance against the individual right concept in favor of a collective right concept.  That in turn could destroy the current legal underpinnings of this traditional American right.

"Obama also has appointed individual gun rights opponents to other high federal office.  Chief among these probably is Attorney General Eric Holder, now under a U.S. House of Representatives vote of contempt of Congress for refusing to release documents in connection with the ongoing Fast and Furious federal gun scandal.  Obama has given Holder full support."

Snyder said that, "Obama and his secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, have been promoting a United Nations arms trade treaty.  If adopted and implemented, this could undermine seriously the ability of business entities as well as individuals to conduct firearm and ammunition transfers without undue government regulation.

"The list could go on and on.  These are just some of the highlights of the Obama anti-gun crowd."

Snyder stated that, "Mitt Romney and his vice-presidential running mate, Paul Ryan, on the other hand, generally have been pretty consistent in their support for the rights of gun owners and other Americans.  Besides, they're running on one of the most pro-gun Republican platforms in recent years.  It supports general recognition of state-issued permits to carry concealed firearms, among other things.

"There's not much time left until Election Day November 6.  It's time to rock and roll with Romney and Ryan."
