Guns for Life Needed as 9-11 Anniversary Approaches

"As America approaches the 10th anniversary of the militant Islamist terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C. of September 11, 2001, law-abiding citizens must be able to acquire, carry and use the firearms they may need to defend life and property from future attacks by terrorists and other criminals," gun law expert John M. Snyder said here today.

Human Events describes Snyder as the Gun Dean.

Snyder noted that the President, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Members of Congress and security experts have warned that a danger the country faces

likely will come from lone wolf terrorists. These are terrorists acting alone with intent to kill Americans and destroy property.

"These militants are most difficult for authorities to intercept," said Snyder. "What this means is that individual armed citizens may have to face them down and put them down in order to preserve public order and protect the lives of innocent people.

"The fact of the matter is that there is no right to life without the means necessary to protect life in a specific situation. The recent situation in Norway demonstrated this most clearly, when a mass murderer killed about 70 people without interruption because there was no one on the scene armed and able to stop him."

Snyder said that, "Fortunately, America is gun country. About 100 million law-abiding people own 200-300 million rifles, shotguns and handguns. We enjoy the individual Second Amendment civil right to keep and bear arms. What we need now is a continual lifting of laws and regulations that circumscribe unreasonably that right. After all, guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens can be used to save lives. They are used millions of times a year by private citizens for legitimate, defensive purposes, reports criminologist Gary Kleck of Florida State University. Gun rights coincide truly with life rights."
