In speaking about “Up Granville,” lead-singer Neil Smith says: “This song isabout living alone for the first time in my life. Being stuck in my smallstudio apartment during Vancouver’s rainy winter and wallowing in theloneliness of it.”
Ahead of release, Peach Pit performed their first live shows since the cancellation of their sold-out global tour, originally slated for spring 2020. The band kicked off their return to live music with a sold-out show at Brooklyn's Baby's All Right before heading to Delaware for a prominent set at Firefly. Playing fan-favorites from their first two albums as well as "Up Granville," and a few other unreleased tracks, Peach Pit is gearing up to take 2022 by storm.
Through bad breakups, bouts of loneliness, existential crises, and evenpandemics, true friends stick around. Instead of bending and breaking, theirbonds crystallize in the roughest of rough patches. If friendship had a sound,it would be Peach Pit. The wistful grooves, glassy guitars, and sun-kissedmelodies feel like they could only be made by musicians who have spent close toa lifetime (or at least half of their lives) together. TheVancouver quartet—Neil Smith [vocals, guitar], Chris Vanderkooy [guitar], PeterWilton [bass], and Mikey Pascuzzi [drums]—trace their union back to highschool.

During 2016, they served up the self-titled single, “Peach Pit,”eclipsing north of 100 million total streams counting. The group continued togain traction with their 2017 full-length debut, Being So Normal.Among many highlights, “Tommy’s Party” and “Alrighty Aphrodite” both surpassed50 million Spotify streams as they graced the bills of festivals such as ShakyKnees Festival, Bonnaroo, Firefly Festival and many more. In 2020 PeachPit revealed You and Your Friends, which DIY Mag hailedas “12 tracks of infectious indie-pop gems” while AtwoodMagazine described the band as being “at the cutting edge ofthe alternative music scene.” Carrying this momentum into 2021,they kick off the next chapter of the band and their friendship with the single“Up Granville.” (C) 2021 Rych McCain Media/Syndication TM (You DID Hear It From Me!)
