Where Journalists Meet & Network -- Press Club USA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"Where Journalists Network" — Press Club USA

New professional community aims to support journalists, strengthen press freedom, and create a modern gathering place for media professionals

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Press Club USA today announced plans for a national professional network for journalists, editors, broadcasters, podcasters, writers, authors, communicators, students and educators.

Press Club USA is built around a simple idea: journalism is stronger when journalists have a place to meet, learn, exchange ideas, find sources, build careers and defend the public's right to know.

Membership concepts include professional networking, career development, journalism training, public programs, member events, press freedom advocacy, student support, awards, online education and social gatherings for people in the news and communications professions.

The new group is designed to be both national and digital, with online member profiles, journalist directories, virtual programs, expert-source connections, regional gatherings and special events.

"Journalists need more than a mailing list," said Mitchell P. Davis. "They need a professional home, a network, a platform and a place where news people can help each other."

Press Club USA will focus on:

Professional networking for journalists and media professionals

Training programs and career development

Press freedom and First Amendment education

Events with newsmakers and public figures

Student and early-career journalist support

Awards recognizing excellence in journalism

Online directories and searchable member profiles

A welcoming community for people who gather, report, edit, publish and explain the news

Press Club USA's theme is: Where Journalists Network.
