Jill Ammon Vanderwood—gun safety/addiction expert

Jill is the author of 13 books on topics that affect kids from fifth through the eighth grade. With her book Off Targret, Jill tackles the tough topic of gun safety while helping students to answer the question: What would you do if someone showed you a loaded gun? Her books, On the Rocks and Cheers deal with the issues of underage drinking and help students to prepare to answer the question: What would you do if you were at a party where alcohol was offered? In addiction, to these topics, author Jill Vanderwood has published Erase the Problem of Bullying where she interviewed 42 authors, professionals and students about their experiences with being bullied or cyber bullied. Many offer advice to those who are suffering at the hands of bullies.
 

Jill has spoken at schools, summer camps, writer's groups, scout troops, drug rehabs and Boy's and Girl's Clubs. She has appeared on TV, in newspapers, radio shows, podcasts and magazine articles.
 

Jill is active in the League of Utah Writers, where she has been the Writer of the Year for 2008.
 

She is an award-winning author, winning the Mom's Choice Award twice, The Indie Excellence Award, and a three-time Gold Quill Award winner from the League of Utah Writers.
 

Jill Vanderwood has a goal to find sponsorship to bring her books into schools and teach gun safety, and the problems of addiction to students across the nation. She is currently working with No Kid Hungry.
