Why the LeBron Derby is Spinning Out of Control

The Summer of LeBron has teetered on insanity since the Izzo debacle.

The first sign the LeBron derby is spinning out of control was LeBron's dress.

Or lack of it.

Yes, theoretically, he called the meetings and he could wear anything he wanted. Think about it. What does it say about a young millionaire who calls billionaires to meet with him and shows up in a T-shirt and sweatpants? He has Warren Buffet on his speed dial. Would Buffet show up at his annual investor's meeting in sweatpants?

The teams, all six of them, spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to prepare their presentation to sway LeBron. Millions of dollars lay on the line for every city.

And he shows up in sweatpants?

At the Cleveland Clinic Courts, the Cavaliers practice facility, the chairs the players sit in to watch fame film were specially made for these NBA athletes.

The chairs do not recline and make lounging impossible. Why? Because the Cavaliers want to send the message to their players that a team meeting is a business meeting,

Not casual entertainment.

What message does LeBron's sweatpants send to the world? Did his dress show respect for the game, its history, owners, general managers, coaches, and fans?

Would Michael Jordan, who you think you can eclipse in Chicago, have ever arrived at any meeting with a backpack? LBJ, your closet must be full of exquisitely tailored suits for your 6'8 body of perfection. If you are not going to wear one of these suits to meet with your future, what would be the setting you would deem important enough to dress appropriately?
