WHEN GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION KILLS

IT DOESN'T COUNT

A recall has just been issued involving thousands of baby cribs. Apparently half a dozen children, more or less, have been killed or injured. So the crib is being recalled. This may be justified or it may not be. I do not have all the facts to make an intelligent decision and I'm thankful I do not have to make a decision.

The marketing of the ionization type smoke detector into 80 to 90 million homes in the U.S. is, without a doubt, the deadliest fraud ever pulled off in this country. My estimates based on FEMA fire loss data indicates that probably 35,000 deaths of children and more than 150,000 injuries have resulted from the marketing of the phony smoke detector. And that applies to the U.S. alone; overseas deaths and injuries greatly add to the destruction of lives. Probably every injury or death, on average, seriously affects five others. Even if my estimates are high (which I will not concede) a small fraction of that number of deaths and injuries should be intolerable. But, the government has not yet recalled these deadly devices.

Many will doubt that the device is so deadly and that the government would help sell a deadly device of this nature to the public. But, because of an organization in Australia, the evidence is now available. All who doubt the deadly nature of a phony smoke detector need only go to this web site for the ugly truth: www.TheFireSafetyFoundation.org. This web site has irrefutable evidence if a criminal conspiracy to market phony smoke detectors to the public with the full cooperation of the U.S. government. This site will provide information relative the N.Y. court case where the judge confirmed that the device is defective and a killer of children. This site will also provide videos of actual fire tests confirming that the ionization device is a "smoke" detector to the degree that the IRS is a humanitarian operation.

So, the federal agencies will not tolerate a crib that has harmed perhaps up to a dozen or so children. But the government has cooperated with and aided those who have defrauded the public, sold phony devices for profits and killed and injured tens of thousands of children. Why?

Part of the reason is because the Feds did not know the true nature of the device during the 1960s when the con men of the fire detection industry first claimed the device would warn of potential fire "before you can see any smoke or flames". Presumably the Feds cooperated with good intentions while believing the lies. Then, about ten years later, when the kids were burning big time with the device remaining silent until it fell to the floor a useless blob of plastics, the Feds ran fire tests including real fire in real buildings. The device proved itself to be close to useless at protecting lives and proved the manufactures were very clever liars.

But the evidence from those 1974 to 1976 fire tests raised some problems. If the Feds told the public the truth after ten years of kids being burned alive when a phony smoke detector failed to warn, what would the public say? Better yet, what would the parents of the kids who were killed and mutilated by fire when a government promoted device failed to warn. So the Feds the federal fire protection engineers and fire bureaucrats took the safe road (for them). They hid the truth and told some lies. They have been covering up the primary cause of the fire deaths ever since.

This brings us to this question: how many deaths and injuries are needed to justify a recall? Obviously, when it comes to a manufacturer of cribs that presumably has no friends in Washington, the number is small. When the recall could embarrass the Feds and/or there are influential friend in Washington, the number may be very high. Of course it is very difficult to manufacture a complex product, especially if it has moving parts, and to make it so safe that it cannot cause a serious accident. Note that automobiles, airplanes and ocean going vessels have been known to produce deaths. Kitchen stoves, heating systems, electrical wiring and electronic products can all cause fire deaths. Motorcycles are for the courageous or the crazies. Playing football has been known to produce injuries, but it is also great for getting dates with pretty gals. So, it is all a matter of perspective, percentages and who you know.

Granted, to resolve these issues, oversight is needed. The problem seems to be those who have the oversight. As a consultant I have dealt with government engineers and fire bureaucrats for more than 50 years. Perhaps I overstate the problem, but it seems to me that for every government regulator with some common sense there are ten who are idiots. And, to make things worse, far more of these "public servants" are willing and ready to line their own pockets by shafting the public. So the real reason I am posting this report on the internet is to let as many people as possible to know that the Feds have betrayed them; the smoke detector that is protecting your kids is as phony as a three dollar bill.

To apply a little knowledge to the issue, I provide below extracts from the ads promoting the ionization type (phony) smoke detector industry that appeared within the Fire Journal of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) for about 15 years beginning during 1965. Those who wrote the ads were masterful liars. The lies were so unbelievable that they were believed. Hitler said (and I paraphrase): "If you are going to tell a lie, tell a big one. That way, people will say nobody would tell a lie like that, so it must be the truth" These lies were whoppers. And the Feds bought them hook, line and sinker. And by my count, more than 30,000 kids died because of it. And the meter is still running.

September 1965 - PYR-A-LARM: "PYR-A-LARM FASTEST Fire & Smoke Detector Available" "The PYR-A-LARM reacts immediately to the invisible products of combustion before there is visible smoke, heat or flame"

July 1966 - BRK Electronics, Inc.: "3 Minutes are worth half a dozen fire engines" The BRK Electronics Fire Detector gives an alarm MINUTES, HOURS, even DAYS earlier . . . Before there is smoke, before there is fire . . . the BRK fire detector picks up the invisible gases of combustion and triggers the alarm" The BRK Electronic Fire Detector is listed by Underwriters' Laboratory, the New York Board of Standards and Appeals, the California State Fire Marshal and other fire control

July 1967 - BRK ELECTRONICS, INC: "I SMELL SMOKE" "The BRK fire detector senses the invisible products of combustion that precede actual fire and smoke" (Picture of a bloodhound wearing a fire chiefs hat)

September 1967 - Smoke Guard (Statitrol Division of Emerson Electric Co.): "Reliable smoke detectors are more valuable than having a fire station on every corner" (A quote from Walter Forrest, Volunteer Chief, Borough of Monroeville, Pennsylvania.)

March 1969 - Firemark.: "before visible smoke or fire . . . FIREMARKS new FM-1600 ionization fire detector will sense products of combustion and instantly respond.

July 1969 - (all of the following) Kidde, Bliss Gamewell, the Autocall Company, Unelco Limited, Fire Lite, Simplex and Faraday: "FIGHT FIRE . . . the easy way . . . before it starts!" "FIRE ALERT Ionization SMOKE DETECTORS - for Positive, Early Sensing of FIRE in its Incipient Stage" (Picture of firefighter)

July 1969 - Honeywell Automation: New, low-voltage, ionization fire detector senses combustion before the smoke appears" (Picture of matches)

May 1972 - SmokeGuard: (Picture of a baby holding a security blanket) "COMFORTING but hardly a life saver!" Statitrol has a brand new 'security blanket' that helps protect your home and family against the dangers of fire" "Operating on the ionization principle, SmokeGuard senses danger - sounds a warning - gives you time to react - before you can even see it or smell it"

July 1972 - Honeywell-The Automation Company: Honeywell helps detect fires before they start" "The new detectors see "unseen" particles of combustion . . . in fire's incipient stage. The stage where you can do something about it! . . . before smoke, flames and heat build up. Before sprinklers are activated"

November 1980 - Environment/One: "STOP A FIRE BEFORE IT'S A FIRE" "most fire detectors warn of fire too late - after they have begun to smoke, smolder, or burn. But now the Incipient Fire Detector (IFD) from Environment/One can detect pre-ignition conditions as well as fires. Alerts you when potentially flammable materials begin to overheat"

So, to all those out there who have children especially small children who cannot escape a fire on their own, I say do not trust that smoke detector in your home that annoys you when you toast the bread or take a shower. That is what it detects real well. The primary problem, however, it is a lousy detector of real (visible) smoke. So if your desire is to get a warning when you toast the bread or take a shower, you are in good shape. Keep the device. Bur if you want a device that will warn you when a little fire is planning to grow large and kill your kids, I suggest you go to the web sites listed below. You will find the truth there.
