Questions for the New Year
Charleston, SC
Tuesday, January 01, 2008

Find a quiet place. Pull up a comfortable chair and relax. It's time to think about the year that just arrived.

Think about the time you have if the good Lord is with you. It is yours. What will you do with it? Don't waste it. Don't fritter it away. Use it for what matters most to you.

Think about your money. How much you have is really not the issue. What will you use it for? Don't waste it. Use it for what is important to you.

Think about your work. Is it what you want to do? Does it renew you? Are you excited about your work? If not, what do you want to do? Where do you want to do it?

Think about your vote. It's yours. Many people died to give it to you. Don't waste it. Use it for what is important to you. Whoever gets it, make him or her earn it. Don't give it away. Don't throw it away.

Think about your health. It is important to you. Take care of yourself. You want to be around for a long time.

Think about your relationships. They are important. Don't squander them. Don't throw them away. They will sustain you. If you are careful to nurture them, they will last a lifetime.

Think about your attitude. Is it what you want or do you want to change it. It is up to you but it does determine how you meet the challenges of the New Year.

Think about your spiritual life. Are you satisfied? Does your present spiritual life nourish you and give you hope? Are you restless and feel a need for growth in your spiritual life? How will you foster the growth?

We are at a new beginning. We all have a clean slate. At the end of the year the slate will be covered with our writings from the past 366 days. Will you like what you have written? The time to decide is before you write it. Once written there are no rewrites.
