"Pizzeria Prepares for Fire Prevention Event"
Punxsutawney, PA – October 1, 2008 – During National Pizza Month Fox's Pizza Den will host a special fundraiser on Oct. 11th in Punxsutawney supporting the local volunteer fire department. The community event aptly named, Pizza & Prevention, is part of Fox's efforts to recognize hometown heroes while remembering those first responders who gave all on 9/11/2001. This will be the culmination of National Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 5 – 11.
Throughout the day, customers will be invited to purchase the pizzeria's signature pie, a 21 slice Big Daddy Pizza for $9.11 with 100% of the purchase price going to the Punxsutaweny Fire Department. Volunteer fireman can deliver the pizza and insure that homes have a working smoke detector.
Fox's Pizza Den of Punxsutawney has raised more than $68,000 for the Punxsutawney fire department since the community event began in 2002. With the support of sponsor, Nationwide Insurance, over 2,000 homes in the area have been equipped with working smoke detectors. Several other local businesses & vendors have partnered to make this the fire company's second largest annual fundraiser.
Owner of the pizzeria, Scott Anthony comments, 'We have been receiving calls from customers and businesses for well over two months, and people just want to know when it is and how they can have a part'. Anthony anticipates that this will be a record breaking year for the event despite the economy. He stated, 'considering the savings for the consumer and the "feel good" factor of this, it is a win-win situation for everyone involved.'
Fox's Pizza Den is ranked in the world's top 20 pizza franchises. The local franchise was established in 1979 and is well-known for their community involvement.
