Minding Our Elders Expands Caregiver Services

Carol Bradley Bursack, founder and owner of Minding Our Elders, has announced that the business is expanding. For the past five years, the author, columnist, blogger, speaker and elder care forum moderator has centered her Web site, www.mindingourelders.com, and her blog at www.mindingoureldersblogs.com, on breaking the isolation of caregivers.
"The mission of Minding Our Elders has always been to shine a light on the isolation often felt by caregivers and seniors, and to give them a voice," Bursack said. "That mission has not changed. However the explosion of elder care needs is making caregiver support even more sought after, so I've decided to expand the business model of Minding Our Elders to include offering a referral survey that makes it easy for caregivers to find services in the area where their elder lives. This tool, Eldercarelink.com, is invaluable for long-distance caregivers, but Eldercarelink.com can also ease the burden of those living in the same town as their elder.
"The simple to use survey helps define the types of available services in a given area and helps the caregiver figure out which types of care are needed at the time," Bursack said.
For more than 20 years, Bursack cared for six family members and a neighbor. She is the author of "Minding Our Elders: Caregivers Share Their Personal Stories" The book is used as a college text for gerontology and nursing home administration classes. Her syndicated elder care column, "Minding Our Elders," runs weekly in print and on-line. Bursack has been interviewed on countless national radio shows, including "Mr. Eldercare," "Today's Author," and "The Ron Ross Show"
Bursack is a member of AARP, National Caregivers Advisory Panel, the National Family Caregivers Association and the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals. As an expert in her field, she is featured in Montclair's Who's Who in Heath and has written hundreds of articles for national publications.
