Los Angeles Mass Disaster Attorneys Get Recognition

Six attorneys from the Los Angeles-based mass disaster law firm of Baum, Hedlund Aristei & Goldman have been chosen by their peers to be listed in the 2009 Southern California Super Lawyers® Rising Stars Edition and the 2009 Super Lawyers® Corporate Counsel Edition.

Ronald L. M. Goldman is a veteran trial lawyer; board certified as a civil trial lawyer by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He was an adjunct law professor at Pepperdine School of Law for 21 years, where he created and taught the course on Aviation Accident Law. John A. Greaves is an experienced pilot and seasoned airline accident lawyer. As an airline transport rated pilot and former Captain for Comair, John has flown over 10,000 hours total flight time since 1966 and over 3,000 hours as a Captain in Part 121 and Part 135 scheduled airline operations. Mr. Greaves has represented hundreds of airline accident victims in more than 35 airline disasters, representing clients in personal injury and wrongful death cases in virtually every major U.S. airline disaster in the last 15 years. Ilyas Akbari concentrates his practice on commercial transportation accidents resulting in catastrophic personal injury or wrongful death as well as pharmaceutical drug product liability and class action cases. He earned his B.S. in Bioengineering at the University of California, San Diego, in 2000 and his law degree at Southwestern University School of Law in 2003, where he served as President of the Student Bar Assn. Bijan Esfandiari is the firm's lead law and motion attorney and is a member of the firm's pharmaceutical drug product liability litigation team. Mr. Esfandiari has successfully represented clients in state and federal courts across the nation at both the trial and appellate level. He has had the privilege of participating in cases that have shaped and developed the law for the benefit of injured victims and consumers of pharmaceutical products. Mr. Esfandiari earned his B.A. in History, with honors, from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and his law degree from the UCLA School of Law.
Kate E. Gillespie focuses her practice on the firm's pharmaceutical drug product liability cases and consumer class action cases. These include cases involving birth defects related to antidepressant use and suicide in patients taking Paxil. She earned a B.S. in Psychology at the University of Oregon and her law degree from Loyola Law School.
