June 2 Proclaimed Say Something Nice Day

North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey proclaimed Monday June 2, 2008 as Say Something Nice Day in the city of 80,000 people. This is the third year that he has issued the proclamation. Mayor Summey said that the city wants to foster good communication among all of its citizens and visitors.
` The proclamation was presented to Dr. Mitch Carnell, who has been at the forefront of the city's training for all of its employees. Dr. Carnell lauded the city for its efforts. "North Charleston is the only city of its size that trains all of its employees in improving communication skills. Many cities provide training to department heads and supervisors but North Charleston is the only one that provides training for all of its employees. It is a remarkable endeavor" Councilman Bob King who presided over the meeting spoke highly of the city's program. Dr. Carnell is a native of Woodruff, SC. He holds degrees from Mars Hill College, Furman University, the University of Alabama and Louisiana State University. He was awarded the Order of the Palmetto by Governor Jim Hodges.
