Is Obama's Victory about the Issues?
Albuquerque, NM
Wednesday, November 05, 2008
Really? How well does the average person know the issues? Can you dictate the detailed differences between Obama's positions and McCain's? Even if you can, is it the whole story?
Now, I am an educated person and I choose to know the issues only superficially. Don't give me detail or you will lose me. I am a big picture person. So what sways so many of us when we vote, other than our basic understanding about the issues? Obama's ability to instill confidence in others leads to a loyalty that is not necessarily dependent on ability. Now I am not saying that Obama is not capable. But in an economy that affects us each personally and in a world-wide crisis where the United States is made out to be the bad guy, our situation has become an emotional one. We want someone to rescue us. We want to be led. Obama has appealed to millions on that alone. Enter the leadership factor of confidence. Show me a confident leader, and I will show you someone that attracts a following. Obama's eloquence, composure, and versatility in tight situations have won him the election. We have confidence in him because of those critical characteristics. Next topic – define for me versatility and how it may mask the true style behind the leader. Katie Snapp
