After making their beer, the newly-certified Brewmasters can return in a month with their buddies to sample their very own brew. "The best gift you can buy for anyone is an experience gift such as a week in Florida at Tiger Fantasy Camp or a day in Frankenmuth at the Brewmaster for a Day experience," says David Scholten, General Manger of the Frankenmuth Brewery. "A few years ago I was given a gift to be a NASCAR Driver for a Day and I'm still talking about it!" "An experience gift like this is like no other because it taps into the "inner guy" in all of us who crave action. And when beer is involved it's icing on the cake!" All Frankenmuth Brewery University trainees will receive: • A Craft Beer Making instructional booklet • An authentic German style growler valued at $40 • Frankenmuth Brewery Brewmaster for a Day T-shirt • Refreshments on the day of the training • Return visit tasting session of "their beer" • 8 ½ x 11 inch classroom photo • Membership in the Brew Crew Loyalty Club • Certificate of Craft Beer Making Graduation Brew Crew Loyalty members will receive email updates and fliers and the right to participate in brew making blogs at www.frankenmuthbrewery.com The Brewmaster for a Day program includes an in-depth tour of the entire brewing operations and hands-on experience in ingredient selection, base malt, specialty malts and hops. There will be classroom instruction on the history of brewing, on the brewing process, and on yeast and fermentation. The Brewmaster for a Day program will begin Jan. 6, 2010. The four hour training class will be offered on Wednesdays beginning at 6 p.m., on Saturdays beginning at 8 a.m., and on Sundays beginning at 2 p.m. "Our Brewmaster for a Day experience would also make a perfect holiday gift for a business owner to give to his employees, especially to a team of valuable contributors as we can accommodate up to 10 brewmaster trainees per session," says Scholten, and it's a great gift for the boss too!" European-crafted beer had been brewed in Frankenmuth from 1862 until 1996 when a tornado destroyed the Frankenmuth Brewery. Re-opened to the public under new owners July 1, 2009, the Frankenmuth Brewing Co. recently began distributing keg beer throughout Michigan. The six crafted Frankenmuth beers available throughout the state are: Cass River Blonde Ale, Red Sky, Frankenmuth Pilsener, Munich Dunkel, Hefeweizen, and English IPA. Jeff Coon, a native Michigander with more than 30 years brewing experience, is the Operational Brewmaster. Coon says the brewery will produce up to 5,000 barrels by the end of 2010 and will begin bottling beer in early 2010. The brewery has a capacity to brew 5,000 to 8,000 barrels a year. Coon added that the Frankenmuth Brewing Company has sold more than 700 kegs of craft beer since opening.
