White Christian Nationalism

Elements of militarism, empire, fascism, and feudalism underly the so-called White Christian Nationalist movement.  These elements tend to be at odds with modern American democracy.

Google (10-1-25):

"White Christian nationalism is a political ideology and cultural framework asserting that the United States was founded as and should remain a Christian nation, with a political and social order rooted in conservative, patriarchal, and white Christian values. It is a fusion of Christian and American identities that can distort both faith and constitutional democracy. The movement overlaps with and provides cover for white supremacy and racial subjugation".

White

As Jesse Jackson pointed out in 1986, the earth is seven eights non-white, as white people migrated from India to Europe.  Discrimination against Asians and Africans and women is tolerated in White Christian Nationalism.  Experts say that democracy requires tolerance of others and the restraint against and forbearance of, extreme actions just because you have the votes and want the power.  The idea that "there but for the grace of God go I," seems not to be there in right wing radio.  The idea that "We the people" excludes some of us is profoundly un-American.

Christian

Evangelical Christians, often seen as conservative or Southern Christians, have a more conservative ideology, rooted more in the worldly kings of the Old Testament and the misogyny of Saint Paul and the epistles, and less in the respect for women and universal notion of "love thy neighbor as thyself" of Jesus in the gospels.  Marcus Borg, leader of the Jesus Seminar group, seeking to understand Jesus's true words, considers the focus of Jesus was mainly against systems of domination, like the hypocritical religious pharisees of his day and ours, and the blindly rich.  Servant leadership seems to be more of Jesus' style.  Forgiveness is a big part of Christianity as is loving your enemies.  Erika Kirk, widow of murdered conservative youth activist Charlie Kirk, boldly stated these beliefs at the funeral, and Trump publicly disagreed with her on both points.  Are there any of the Ten Commandments Trump hasn't broken?  How about cops killed on January 6th or Venezuelans murdered on the boat?  And he "bears false witness against his neighbor" many times every day, not to mention all the adultery.  He sets himself up constantly as a false god.

How do his followers not see the anti-Christ in so-called Orange Jesus?  The pope questions the sincerity of those who are pro life on abortion yet for the death penalty.

Abortion

In the Middle Ages the church debated "how many angels on the head of a pin."  Worrying about a half ounce quarter inch fetus at 12 weeks sounds just about as absurd.  Yahweh is the word for God in the Old Testament, so sacred that the vowels were left out so the spirit of life, breath itself, is necessary to activate the word.  Fetuses do not breath, first breath is the start of life.  Heartbeats have nothing to do with it. A tadpole is not a frog, a caterpillar is not a butterfly, so why would a microscopic fetus be considered a baby?  Are we to hold funerals for every one of the twenty percent of pregnancies that end in miscarriages?  Women have four times the death rate carrying to term compared to abortion risk.  Doesn't the constitution forbid "involuntary servitude?"  Doesn't that make forced birth unconstitutional?

Nationalism

My father ridiculed the idea that "The South shall rise again" in the sixties.  In 1964 the Civil Rights Act was opposed by Barry Goldwater, and ever since then Republicans have embraced the confederacy more and implicitly rejected Lincoln's war to free the slaves.  Ever since January 6th 2021's insurrection, with the heart of the MAGA base in Jefferson Davis's Confederacy, Trump, the second president of that confederacy, has run and been illegally elected despite the 14th Amendment against insurrectionists holding any federal office.  The wisdom of that amendment is shown by the most lawless administration ever.  Trump's election, made possible by the corrupt immunity decision of the supine court.  That obstruction of justice decision "aids and abets" the leader of the insurrection, disqualifying the six justices from holding federal office.  We need to clean house of all insurrectionist presidents, congresspeople, and justices.  Just pass enabling legislation in 2029.

Demonization

Bullying and demonization are Trump's main tools.  Demonization fuels wars hatred and criminal behavior, like the doubling of mass murders under Trump's ten years thanks to his overt dedication to encouraging violence.  Demonization is used to illegally prosecute opponents on baseless charges.  This is the stuff of dictatorship, as Trump destroys medical research, universities, foreign aid to starving children.  His tariffs block farmers markets and farmers are deprived of revenue from food stamps and foreign aid.  He destroys 16 inspector generals against corruption and destroys anti-terrorism units and defenses against foreign participation in our elections.  Make China number one by default as he abdicates normal international operations like voice of America as he favors Putin, Xi, and Un and other despots over long term democratic allies.  Not to mention reversing investments in global warming to favor fossil fuels.  Resource countries are notoriously more corrupt than manufacturing economies.  China must be drinking champaign.

Rankism and Dignity

All discrimination against others are forms of rankism.  Trump outranks everyone else, hence the bullying and endless discrimination.
