It is little wonder that my fav Tom Hanks has recently been diagnosed with Type II Adult Onset Diabetes. Tom Hanks is invincible, forever young, and immune from body breakdown ? right! Hanks has yo-yo dieted for a number of his Hollywood roles and while he acknowledges that this may be a contributing factor, in my opinion, it is not the whole story. Twenty million Americans and 2.5 million Canadians are diagnosed with the disease every year. Type II diabetes is a condition (not a disease) where the pancreas does not produce enough insulin to control blood glucose levels and it?s not just a condition of the obese. Unlike Type I or Juvenile Diabetes, Type II Diabetes can be controlled by diet and exercise. In my own intuitive work, almost everyone I see is on a path to adult onset diabetes. Fluctuations in blood sugar levels, hypoglycemia, high-carb consumption, not enough exercise, lack of digestive enzymes ? the symptom list goes on. Once clients understand that taking care of the pancreas and normalizing blood sugar levels, is of paramount importance, the situation dramatically improves. Solutions include following a low-carb, Palaeolithic diet, exercising and supporting the pancreas with digestive enzymes and pancreatic enzymes. The health risks with Type II Diabetes include weight gain,  vision issues or blindness, heart disease, high blood pressure, nerve damage, neuropathy, and erectile dysfunction. But there is a metaphysical connotation associate with Adult-Onset Diabetes. Literally, there is NO responsible adult present. The little child who wants the sugar, wants the refined carbohydrates is running the show. Tom Hanks ? easy, add some discipline, change the diet and adopt healthy life-style changes ? lean and mean like you were in Castaway should do it!
