Kirk Gibson's Miracle 1988 World Series Home Run

When Kirk Gibson, barely able to walk, hit his famous 1988 World Series home run Hall of Fame announcer Vin Scully commented, "In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened." Despite major world problems, this Thanksgiving let us take some inspiration and motivation from events of a miraculous nature; the Cubs won the World Series and LeBron James brought home an NBA title to Cleveland, both coming back from impossible deficits; Donald Trump did everything wrong and became President of the United States while the Rio Olympics came off without a hitch. All these improbable events while, thankfully, millions around the continue to devote their lives to healing the oceans, marine ecosystems and fisheries so vital to the existence of billions and life on Earth.

In 2016 Danny Quintana, founder of the Global High Seas Marine Preserve and author of Space & Ocean Exploration: The Alternative to the Military Industrial Complex, started ramping up campaigns to help further the cause of preserving the oceans, major marine predators like tuna, sharks and whales, and major fisheries that feed billions of people around the world. To supplement the primary goal of the GHSMP, banning in industrial and commercial fishing in international waters by establishing the Global High Seas Marine Preserve, he has kicked off the 50 Sustainable Seafood Cities Campaign to increase consumer awareness and encourage municipal authorities from the 50 largest U.S. cities to mandate that only seafood products from sustainable sources be sold in their jurisdictions.

Thanksgiving to the gifts of our natural world can easily be an extension of giving thanks to family, friends and Our Creator as the holiday season moves into full swing. In 100 years, when the Cubs win their next World Series, it is Danny Quintana's sincere hope that families will be giving thanks for the gifts provided by the great oceans of the world.

Will the great Superfish Bluefin Tuna survive?

Will sharks be able to withstand the shark finning onslaught currently being practiced?

Will coral reefs survive?

Will billions starve if the ocean ecosystems collapse?

Will economic collapse and war come from ocean ecosystem collapse?

All these questions will be answered soon, and all the experts and all the kings men can't predict what will happen as evidenced by their poor record of predictions in an "improbable year when the impossible happened."
