Twisted Limb Paperworks, creator of artisan-crafted, eco-friendly invitations for fourteen years is once again greeting the holidays with a new line of 100% recycled, handmade paper creations. The four cards are called 'Golden Shimmer Handmade Paper Ornament', 'Twinkling Storybook Skies', 'Peaceful Winter', and 'Considerable Words', each card was specially designed for this upcoming winter season and a few have new handmade paper recipes specifically created for the holidays.
The first of these cards is the 'Golden Shimmer Handmade Paper Ornament'. Round-cut from Twisted Limb's specially made holiday paper – an iridescent cream-colored paper mottled with mineral luster, the Golden Shimmer Paper Ornament resembles an antique glass ball decoration with traces of gold lacquer still on the surface. Strung through with golden ribbon, this greeting card can hang from a hook, on the refrigerator, or even on the tree! It bears a picture of three hanging ornaments with the text 'Hope your Holidays SHINE' along the top and 'May your days be merry and bright and your nights aglow with sparkling light' along the bottom. This card has its own matching frost-colored envelope with a print along the back-flap of hanging ornaments.
The second of these four new cards is the aptly named 'Twinkling Storybook Skies'. This card is meant to convey the warmth of returning home for the holidays. Printed on stone-colored cardstock beneath a zig-zag stitched side bar of Snowflake Blue handmade paper, this original drawing by artist Katie Roth is a one-of-a-kind holiday greeting card. The blue glitter paper above the image of the little girl and her horse gives an impression of a snowy winter sky overhead. This card comes with its own matching envelope made from stone-colored cardstock with a print of trees and a few stars on the back-flap.
The third of the new line of holiday cards is the 'Peaceful Winter' card. On one side is a snapshot of tree branches glistening with icicles on a sunny winter day – a photo taken by company founder Sheryl Woodhouse-Keese during a recent year's ice storm. Beside this, rests a personalized note meant to send a message of restful well-wishing to your friends and family. In colorful, looping text the card quotes Anton Chekhov: 'We shall find peace. We shall hear the angels, we shall see the sky sparkling with diamonds.' The card continues, 'Wishing you a holiday blessed with magic, joy, laughter, and peace in the new year.' This card is made with a matching stone-colored cardstock that bears a print on the back-flap of the icy branch snapshot as seen through a window.
The final addition to the company's array of Holiday cards is the 'Considerable Words' card, where a popular Twisted Limb greeting card design gets a seasonal spin for the holidays! With the simple addition of "Happy Holidays," this classic idea takes on a new theme to remind the receiver what the holiday season is all about. Printed on frost-colored cardstock with a burgundy sidebar, this card is meant to be the perfect package of thoughtfulness and Twisted Limb imagination.
This year's cards are a collaboration from the entire staff. With assistance from founding artist Sheryl Woodhouse-Keese and studio manager Juliana Dumas, studio artists Katie Roth and Lauren Wolfer and graphic designer Rachel Levine designed the cards, while marketing assistant Kiell Ruterbories composed the text. Each staff member had the opportunity to give their own input into these pieces so that the end results are beautiful holiday cards that express all the warmth and love that their senders wish to convey.
