New Service Brings Love And Marriage to Gotham City

"Being single, when I wanted to be married, to be frank, felt like a chronic illness," stated Corinne Innis, owner of Penn Fleming, a new matchmaking service for marriage-minded singles located at 255 West 36th St. Suite 838B in NYC.  "I would read articles about professional women and old eggs and cringe".  Innis conceived of Penn Fleming because she felt that singles, particularly women in their child bearing years and middle aged professionals, could benefit from the support and coordination skills of a matchmaker. The business opened in May 2009 and has undertaken a massive effort to recruit marriage-minded singles. Their goal is to have a large database with very diverse demographics. In order to boost enrollment, a free membership is being offered to applicants who submit a headshot and a national criminal background check. An applicant is interviewed by Innis before being accepted as a member. All applicants and clients are seen by appointment only. Information about the service can be found on www.pennfleming.com or by emailing infor@pennfleming.com.

The dating and matchmaking industry is booming. Singles have many roads to choose from in trying to find a mate. One can choose from online dating services, personal ads in newspapers, singles events and matchmakers. According to Innis, matchmakers differ from other services because they provide follow-up and a point of reference. "It's not a total shot in the dark. The matchmaker actually has met the person she/he is referring to a client." She doesn't see her role as a cure all and does not believe that a matchmaking or dating service can guarantee love or marriage. However, at Penn Fleming the mantra is that interpersonal skills, commitment, empathy, and the ability to compromise in a relationship can lead towards a happy marriage.

Penn Fleming will play host to two speed-dating events at the elegant Sixty-Six Restaurant & Lounge in Manhattan's fashionable Chelsea district. There will be attractive professional singles, a cash bar, a sensational menu of appetizers and fun party favors.  A hostess will facilitate ten to twelve 5-minute dates, make speed daters feel comfortable, and hopefully provoke a chuckle or a smile. Between each short date participants will decide whether or not they want to see each other again by discreetly making selections on a card. The hostess will collect the cards. If two participants choose each other it is a match. Matches will receive an email with each other's email address from Penn Fleming within 24 hours. They will then be able to begin the wonderful journey of getting to know each other. Advance registration required. To register go to http://pennfleming.com/id6.html. There is a $39 registration fee.
