New Medical Identification for Peanut Allergies

The current crisis in allergies and sicknesses from eating peanut products being recalled has made the consumer public more aware of the seriousness involved in peanut and other food allergies. Many people suffer from these allergies and yet have no identification on them to alert the first responders or emergency medical personnel of their condition. In order to identify people who have medical conditions, LIFETAG® (www.lifetag.com, 1-888-LIFETAG) has created fashionable jewelry designed by Susan Eisen, jewelry designer and creator, for those with peanut allergies. LIFETAG® began producing a different kind of medical ID when the designer, Susan Eisen, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. ?There was nothing on the market that I considered wearing for my medical identification because I wanted something more stylish that did not advertise my medical condition to the public,? says Ms. Eisen. ?Too many people are walking around with serious medical conditions and refuse to wear medical identification that would help save time and money in case of an emergency situation,? says Ms. Eisen about why medical identification is so important.

People who suffer from serious peanut and food allergies can instantly be forced into a life threatening condition and need to be treated immediately. Without the knowledge of what is causing their condition, emergency medical personnel might take too long in reviving them. Traditional medical identification jewelry is found in bracelets and pendants and LIFETAGs® can be placed in many different places and offer an alternative to jewelry. LIFETAGs® are small stick-on medical IDs that are 7/16" wide and 7/16" long and can be placed on a watch band, clasp, bracelet, pendant, driver's license, insurance card, wallet, pager or cell phone to reveal the medical condition. A medic will see a LIFETAG® immediately while searching for a pulse or a place to begin an IV if attached to a watchband. LIFETAGs® are 5 for $26.95, are more affordable than jewelry, and can be purchased online at www.lifetag.com.

Along with other products for people who do not like wearing jewelry at all, LIFETAGs® are available in 25 other medical conditions and include a wallet card to notify emergency personnel, as well as a strong adhesive to adhere them on to other personal articles. Other non-jewelry products offered by LIFETAG® include key chains, shoetags, and car decals.

?Too many more people could be saved if they just took the time to wear a medical ID,? said Ms. Eisen. As a person with type 1 diabetes, she knows that it could definitely save her life and the life of others in case of an emergency.
